Metric Oil Seal

Oil seals help a rotating shaft and the bearing within reach its maximum service life and reliability. They retain lubricants, exclude contaminants, separate fluids, and confines pressure.

This is achieved by closing spaces between stationary and moving components in mechanical equipment, helping to prevent lubricant escape. They also stop harmful contaminants from entering machinery, particularly in severe environments.

An oil seal generally consists of an outer circular rigid (metal or rubber) part and an inner flexible member that does the actual sealing and is bonded to the rigid part by chemical adhesive agents

(Polyacrylic rubber)

ACM or simply acrylate rubber consists of a polymerized ester and a curing monomer. Ethyl acrylate rubber has a good resistance to heat and mineral oil; on the other hand butyl acrylate has a better cold flexibility. Polyacrylate has a good resistance to mineral oil, oxygen and ozone even at high temperatures. The water compatibility and cold flexibility of ACM are significantly worse than with NBR.

Typical applications include automotive transmission components like seals and hoses that have to be resistant to hot oil, fuel and many other common automotive lubricants and hydraulic fluids. ACM elastomer have also found use in vibration damping due to its excellent resilience. Other applications include textiles, adhesives, and coatings.
